Caustic soda, or sodium hydroxide (NaOH), is a powerful and effective drain cleaner. Here’s how you can use it to unblock drains:

Safety First: Wear protective gloves and safety goggles, as caustic soda is highly corrosive and can cause burns.
Prepare the Solution: In a well-ventilated area, mix about 3 cups of caustic soda with 3 litres of cold water in a heat-resistant container. Stir gently with a wooden spoon or similar tool.
Pour the Solution: Carefully pour the mixture down the blocked drain. You might notice some fizzing and heat as the caustic soda reacts with the blockage.
Wait: Let the solution sit in the drain for about 30 minutes to an hour.
Flush the Drain: After waiting, flush the drain with boiling water to clear any remaining debris and caustic soda residue.

Important Tips:

Avoid using caustic soda on PVC pipes or in septic systems, as it can cause damage.
Always add caustic soda to water, not the other way around, to prevent splashing and excessive heat
