Headcollars (also called halters)

Purpose: To give the handler control over the horse’s head and movement.
Use: Worn around the horse’s head, it allows safe and effective handling whether you're leading, tying up, or grooming the horse.
Types: Can be made of leather, nylon, or rope—each has different strengths. Rope halters give more precise pressure for training, while padded leather ones are more comfortable and stylish for shows.

Lead Ropes

Purpose: Used to guide or restrain the horse when attached to the headcollar.
Use: The handler holds the rope to lead the horse, maintain distance, or tie them safely. Some come with a chain for added control in spirited horses.
Types: Usually made of cotton or nylon with a snap or clip that connects to the headcollar.

Together, they act like a steering wheel and brakes for a horse on the ground. With good technique and mutual trust, these tools help build a respectful relationship between human and horse.
